Wildfires

I took the day off from campaigning because of the smoke. It's awful, but feel fortunate we don't have to deal with the actual fires as so many on the west coast have, and continue to do. I hope all that are in harms way find a way to stay safe, and kudos to all those front line firefighters that are doing their best to contain these out of control fires.

I would also like to express my gratitude to our local firefighters and first responders for the fabulous job they did putting out what could have been a huge blaze here close to my house in South Bend Thursday evening. It could have gotten bad real fast, but our local best had it out in no time. This is one of those times when the importance of public safety becomes obvious.
